ABOUT THE SDG APROACH
UNDP has developed cutting-edge research to help decision-makers look beyond recovery, towards 2030, creating futures options, supporting choices, and managing complexity and uncertainty before investments are locked in. The research uses global simulations to demonstrate the potential impact of a slow and fragmented recovery from COVID-19 on the SDGs, while also investigating the possibility to outperform a pre-COVID-19 development trajectory with an integrated portfolio of investments in social protection, green transition, digitalization, and governance.
Building from research to action, the SDG Push approach guides policymakers to identify context specific acceleration pathways to meet development needs and ambitions. The process is evidence based, innovative, and actionable. Its very design is based on adaptivity to every country's context, prioritising principles of flexibility rather than being static. A new guidebook aimed at providing easy to follow processes to run an SDG Push process in-country, either independently led by its government, or with UNDP or UNCT support is now available. Different models of engagement are offered to ensure flexibility and choice in process implementation.
