GBV can and must be prevented. Evidence-based GBV prevention programming has proliferated over the past decade. For example, research from the What Works to Prevent Violence against Women and Girls Global Programme has shown that combined economic empowerment and gender-transformative interventions can reduce women’s experiences of intimate partner violence (IPV) and men’s perpetration of IPV by up to 50%. Evaluations of SASA! and Indashyikirwa interventions show similar levels of impact.

The select resources below provide more details on evidence-based GBV prevention programmes and guidance.
