Why Strategic Foresight?
The Asia-Pacific region is a fast-growing, fast-adapting region. To stay ahead, organizations of the future will need new methods to support strategy and planning to anticipate these crises and mitigate risks. The ability to be anticipatory—to act in preparation of ‘what could happen’—is the learned skill and application of foresight, and is a bedrock of the Secretary-General’s Our Common Agenda report.
This means getting better at systematically looking and planning for what is ahead to manage complexity. In partnership with our pioneer country offices, we have developed accessible Foresight approaches that can be implemented by Country Offices for their Country Office Business Plans (COBP) Country Programme Documents (CPDs), and Project Document (ProDoc) design.
About the Foresight Week
Over the course of 3 days and 5 action-packed virtual sessions, we will explore a Strategic Foresight package put together by SPP, that COs can employ in 2022 for anticipatory planning. We have timed our event in January so that COs can use insights for programme planning and begin embedding foresight processes.
? Our 3D approach is designed for all UNDP RBAP staff, regardless of previous experience with foresight management, and is also open to regions outside Asia and the Pacific.
