Embracing circular economy principles, where bio-waste is seen as a valuable input rather than mere refuse, can foster a sustainable urban ecosystem while addressing waste management challenges. Collaboration between government bodies, the private sector, and communities, becomes pivotal in harnessing these opportunities and developing comprehensive strategies for effective bio-waste treatment in urban landscapes.

The objective of this webinar is to create a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and dissemination, fostering collaboration among UNDP country offices and with other partners. This interactive session seeks to illuminate innovative practices, cutting-edge techniques, and successful case studies in bio-waste management. Through expert insights, case studies, and engaging discussions, the webinar aims to empower participants with the knowledge and understanding necessary to address bio-waste challenges effectively. Specifically, the following topics will be covered:

  • Challenges and opportunities of managing bio-waste as part of municipal waste.
  • Importance of bio-waste quality: Key findings from the ISWA Practioner’s Guide
  • Tested innovative solutions and lessons learned on bio-waste treatment.
