Zero Step Warm Data Project
An Invitation to Participate in SDG Action Zone Sessions as part of the High-Level Dialogue on Energy Ministerial Thematic Forum 21-24 June 2021
“Arguably, the fate of humanity is a measure of our capacity to evolve beyond the destructive patterns we are now engaged in. I would suggest that this evolution relies on the possibility that we might see our world differently—as a living process, not as a mechanism” – Nora Bateson |

These SDG Action Zone sessions are an invitation into a space of care, curiosity and humility to learn together and build relationships through the 'Warm Data' inspired process called People Need People Online - developed by Nora Bateson and stewarded by the International Bateson Institute (IBI).
These sessions will provide an overview of the Zero Step Warm Data Experiment that has been conducted in May and June alongside the formal High-Level Dialogue on Energy Technical Working Group process. The experiment was a series of conversations to meet each other and experience shifting perceptions in relationship to energy in this changing world. More than 60 sessions have been held with thousands of conversations experienced in dozens of countries across the world.
These sessions are an opportunity for people to experience People Need People Online (PNP), which is a leading-edge systems process and practice that reveals the systemic patterns we are bound by to better perceive the interdependencies and relationships that we have with energy. Thereby enabling fresh and new perceiving and thinking within families, communities, governments, businesses, investors and society to approach the energy access and energy transition challenges in a new way.
Given the nature of the PNP Online process, these sessions will build relationships that build relationships and therefore you are invited to participate in all four as a series, or if time does not permit then to just join one or more sessions on any of the four days.
The PNP "Pods" will be hosted by Marcel Alers (UNDP, Head of Energy) and Scott Williams (UNDP, Systems Innovations Advisor) together with groups of Certified Warm Data / PNP Hosts. These conversations are for ALL walks of life - the everyday person - whether you are a grandmother and mother who enjoys farming, a visionary that is passionate about working for energy justice, or both, a student, life-long learner, caretaker, healthcare worker, clean energy researcher, energy efficiency entrepreneur, artist, tech philosopher, writer, designer, gardener, scientist, consultant, creative, investor, government official, dad, young, old and in between.
This is the continuation of an ongoing mutual exploration into finding new possibilities for our multiple overlapping crises, embracing a new way of thinking about questions like what is essential, what is leadership, where is the edge of responsibility, who am I now, what is work, life, family, health, education, growth, power, transformation and more.
Brigitte Sistig ideally you will want to join one pod series and attend all the sessions of that pod, so that you build conversation and rapport with a certain group. But of course that depends on whether it works with your schedule, so next best option is to attend as many sessions as you can from that series, and if you skip a few that's ok too.
