Overall introduction
These standards have been created to accelerate the UNDP’s digital transformation and ensure the highest rate of success across our digital initiatives worldwide.
Welcome
Digital technology has impacted all aspects of our lives and our work in the development sector. The way we collect data, plan and implement projects, measure our impact and how we communicate, have all changed over the last 20 years. New digital tools and technologies, the increased speed with which these tools allow us to work, as well as entirely novel sectors, all have demanded us to learn, adopt and adapt. This development has come with great opportunities, but also with significant challenges. And to respond appropriately to these developments, UNDP continuously needs to adapt to this ever-changing environment to instrumentalise digital as a force for good.
The Digital Standards were created to build the foundation upon which we can further grow and adapt to these new developments. We believe that through these standards, country offices can truly capitalise on the global drive towards digitalisation and become active players in using digital technology for social impact.
We are grateful that you embark with us on this learning journey! Thank you for being ambitious and curious to learn something new and improve your skills and help us build a better organisation.
Learning Goals
So, what you will learn here is how to think and work with digital technologies in general, how to design and implement digital products in line with the Digital Strategy and how to interact with governments in supporting their digital transformation.
The UNDP Digital Strategy 2022 - 2025 forms the foundation of this course. We will revisit the strategy first before we introduce the UNDP digital standards. The standards can be considered guidelines for digital project design and implementation.
Let’s get started!
