In a series of conversations and hands on clinics (21-29 March) with external experts and internal practitioners, we will explore different elements of a portfolio approach – moving beyond sectoral challenges for opportunities for transformative change. The shift “from projects to portfolios” comes with many questions – and healthy skepticism! The overall objective of the clinics is to put a spotlight on practice: experiences from the ground both inside and outside of the organization that do not provide all the answers but a glimpse of what is possible.

Agenda
In this session, we will reflect on why incremental innovation is not enough to address complex development challenges, and why transformation requires a different innovation paradigm. We will discuss what this all means for UNDP and how we can accelerate the shift towards “strategic” innovation advocated by the new Strategic Plan.
This session will be moderated by Haoliang Xu, UN Assistant Secretary-General, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director of Bureau for Policy and Programme Support, and will include brief presentations from speakers:
