Stockholm +50 Children’s consultations
On the 2nd and 3rd June 2022, a crucial international environmental meeting will be held in Stockholm, Sweden. Anchored in the Decade of Action, under the theme “Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity,” this meeting will follow months of consultations and discussions with individuals, communities, organizations and governments around the world.
Stockholm+50 will commemorate the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Environment and celebrate 50 years of global environmental action. By recognizing the importance of working together in tackling the Earth’s triple crisis – climate, nature, and pollution – the event aims to accelerate the implementation of the UN Decade of Action to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals, including the 2030 Agenda, Paris Agreement on climate change, the post-2020 global Biodiversity Framework, and encourage the adoption of environmentally friendly post-COVID-19 recovery plans.
To capture the voices of the Zimbabwean children in this crucial meeting UNDP Zimbabwe is inviting children to give their voice in the form of essays and art on chosen topics adjacent to the theme of the conference.
This is open to school going children below the age of 18. Selected essays and art pieces will be showcased at the Stockholm +50 event and included in the Zimbabwe National consultation report.
