We are pleased to invite you to attend and disseminate the UNDP side event on mercury reduction and elimination in Artisanal Small-scale Gold Mining, co-sponsored with the COP host country Indonesia, about a very successful project of UNDP in Indonesia as part of the PLanetGOLD programme. Artisanal Small-Scale Gold Mining has a serious environmental impact globally due to the use and uncontrolled emission of mercury.

Pre-COP4.2 Side Event: Lessons learned from the PlanetGOLD Indonesia to address the target on Mercury reduction and elimination

The planetGOLD Indonesia project GOLD-ISMIA, a five-year project partnership of the Direktorat Jenderal Pengelolaan Sampah, Limbah dan B3, Pusat Teknologi Pengembangan Sumberdaya Mineral and UNDP Indonesia funded by the Global Environment Facility, is participating on the COP-4 side-event through the online webinar with the topic of “Lessons-learned from the planetGOLD Indonesia Project to address the National Target on Mercury Reduction and Elimination”. In the webinar, the project will share information about the strategy to achieve the mercury reduction targets, the lessons-learned to select mercury-free alternative technologies, and the gender mainstreaming in ASGM sector.

These are side events leading the 4th Conference of Parties to the Minamata Convention which will take place in person 21-25 March 2022 in Bali, Indonesia. More info to come as we get closer to the COP!
