This video captures highlights from the #WeBelongAfrica Regional Meeting on Strengthening and Sustaining Young Key Populations-led Advocacy, held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Bringing together young advocates from Angola, Eswatini, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe, the workshop created a space to reflect on progress, share experiences and strengthen strategies to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and HIV responses. Participants discussed the barriers they continue to face — including stigma, discrimination and limited access to decision-making spaces — while showcasing the growing impact of youth-led advocacy.
Through peer exchange and collaboration, young leaders are increasingly engaging policymakers, shaping legal and policy reforms, and holding institutions accountable. As highlighted throughout the discussions, sustained advocacy, coordination and community leadership remain essential to driving lasting change.
The meeting was organized through UNDP’s #WeBelongAfrica programme, which supports young key populations to lead advocacy efforts and advance more inclusive, rights-based health responses across the region.
