Pride Month as we know it today is a splendid celebration of diversity. It is a period filled with parades, festivals, and advocacy activities that honor the progress towards visibility and acceptance for members of the LGBTQ+ community. Despite all the pomp, the somber essence of this month-long festivity still endures: Pride is a protest against the persisting inequalities and discrimination faced by the LGBTQ+ community.

In the Philippines, the steady increase in HIV cases is worsened by HIV-related stigma and discrimination, especially among men having sex with men (MSM)1. To aid in the country’s HIV/AIDS response, the SCALE Initiative, led by UNDP Philippines, is supporting three (3) projects that improve access to HIV services and empower key populations to be catalysts for change in their respective communities. These projects are in partnership with key population-led organizations in the country, namely, (i) TLF Share (Sexuality, Health, and Rights Educators) Collective for the Bida ang Barangay Project; (ii) Philippine Anti-Discrimination Alliance of Youth Leaders (PANTAY) for Project CLASH; and (iii) Cebu United Rainbow LGBT Sector (CURLS) for the Kadangpan Project
