Mr. Majed Hasanat is a freelance consultant and senior expert in sustainable development who gained a unique experience linking environment to socioeconomic development. He is a strong communicator, an institutional change agent, and a community mobiliser. 

Earlier in his career, he worked as Commissioner for Infrastructure in PDTRA, during which he managed and supervised the implementation of project in distinct locations such as Petra. Prior to that, he worked as a commissioner for Petra Archeological Park. Thus, he is fully aware of the work at world heritage site and local communities. During his period as Commissioner, Petra recorded 1.3 M visitor in 2019 for the first time ever with zero accident and the best site report from UNESCO for the respective year.

Dr. Bassam Hayek is an independent consultant. In 2019, Dr. Hayek was appointed the Chief of Technologies for Sustainable Development Cluster at the Royal Scientific Society and also served as Vice President for Technical Affairs. During 2013 – 2019, he worked with GIZ Water Portfolio in Jordan and led projects dealing with improving the eco-efficiency of water utilities.

Prior to that, Dr. Hayek had started his independent consultancy in 2010 and worked on environment, water and energy topics. He worked as a short term consultant for projects supported by international agencies including GIZ, USAID, UNIDO, SDC. He also participated in projects evaluation and new projects appraisal missions. Dr. Hayek served at the Royal Scientific Society of Jordan between 1994 and 2010. He led the environmental team in conducting assessment studies and applied research addressing key water and environmental issues in Jordan.

Dr. Hayek has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Jordan University of Science & Technology (1989) and a PhD and MSc in Chemical Engineerin from the University of Wales Swansea, UK (1994). He speaks Arabic and English.
