Background

With rapid advancement and accessibility of digital technologies, there is great potential for harnessing its power to help address challenges that limit advancement towards universal health coverage and achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 3. The COVID-19 pandemic has placed the health system under significant strain over the past 18 months, highlighting the importance of innovative models of healthcare that can help link health services to individuals, particularly those who face geographical, physical or cultural barriers to healthcare. Telehealth is one such solution which enables the remote delivery of quality, cost-effective and essential health services, thus contributing to health system resilience and universal health coverage. Read more here. 

Target audience

The e-discussion is open to relevant stakeholders from all countries that UNDP country offices have supported or are interested in supporting telehealth services. The e-consultation is open to participants from government, health providers, academics, innovators, donors and development partners. 

  • Policymakers and technical personnel from government agencies who are responsible for the development or implementation of telehealth/digital health solutions. These individuals would typically be from the ministries of health, communication and IT, health services department and disease control programmes;
  • Civil society organizations working on promoting equitable access to healthcare and safeguarding of digital data;
  • Health service providers in the public and private sectors;
  • Software developers;
  • Technical partners, development partners and donors supporting digital health and health system strengthening; 
  • UNDP: Global Policy Network, UNDP Country Offices, Accelerator Labs from all regions.
