Welcome to the Gender and NBSAP BRIDGE (Biodiversity Resilience and Innovation Delivering for Gender Equality) Space!


This a dedicated space for technical support and community exchange, facilitated by UNDP’s global gender team as part of the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership joint work to help countries advance gender equality in biodiversity planning and implementation.


This project offers tailored support to and with seven partner countries, helping advance their national biodiversity and gender equality goals together.

CBD Gender Plan of Action

Adopted at COP 15 through COP 15 decision 15/11

The GPA recognizes:

  • The importance of advancing efforts to achieve gender equality and women’s and girl’s empowerment to ensure the effective implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework  ( KMGBF)
  • That the full and effective participation and leadership of women in all aspects of Convention processes, particularly in policy and action at national and local levels is vital

The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership is a country-led initiative to accelerate the implementation of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs), raise their political profile, and drive collective action for nature. It is co-chaired by Colombia and Germany and supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection (BMUV) through its International Climate Initiative (IKI), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), through the global project “GBF Implementation,” implemented by GIZ.
