SDG 16 Implementation

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development has 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets, which apply to all countries everywhere. The SDGs are designed so that each country can adapt them to its unique national context.

The UN and other international agencies provide guidance to countries on how to align the SDGs with each country’s national context. This guidance includes support for integrating the SDGs into national development plans.

For SDG 16, policy integration involves: 

  1. Reviewing existing policies related to SDG 16 targets, such as on violence, human trafficking, corruption, access to justice and information, inclusive decision-making, legal identity.
  2. Identifying gaps where policies are missing or need strengthening
