The global pandemic is having a devastating impact on Small Island Developing States, with up to 90% of GDP derived directly or indirectly from tourism in some countries. As part of the socio-economic recovery the UNDP Future-Tourism (FUT-Tourism): Rethinking Tourism and MSMEs in times of COVID-19 project is hosting a regional dialogue series with the 10 countries of the Eastern Caribbean[1]. to explore the emerging trends and opportunities to build forward better, with the ultimate goal to build resilience to shocks, harness digital innovation, and enhance sustainable practices.

This event, the last in the series will focus on a sustainable tourism approach to national and regional economic development as the conclusions on the dialogues and will touch upon themes of

  • Hidden costs and benefits of market segments
  • Regional coordination
  • Policy solutions

This virtual event will be broadcasted live on the University of West Indies TV at www.uwitv.org as well as UNDP Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean Facebook page
