Background
With the WHO Pandemic Agreement adopted and the Political Declaration on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response (PPPR) set to be endorsed on September 25, the next step is effective implementation. The urgency could not be greater: The ongoing Ebola bundibugyo outbreak, the recent hantavirus cluster and mpox, as well as the continued threat of highly pathogenic avian influenza serve as stark reminders that zoonotic diseases do not wait for political processes to conclude. This event, taking place the day before the UN High-level Meeting on PPPR, will convene ministers and policymakers for a dialogue on effective strategies to strengthen global health security and the multisectoral One Health and planetary health approaches to prevent zoonotic disease emergence. 

Along with high-level government speakers, confirmed panelists include Rt Hon Helen Clark; H.E. Ms. Anne-Claire Amprou, French Ambassador for Global Health; and Ms. Priya Basu, Executive Head of the Pandemic Fund.
