27 JULY 2021

Dear Colleague,

The 2021 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) highlighted the need to build systemic, integrated solutions to our complex development challenges. This is particularly true for the challenge of poverty, which continues to be the greatest pending task of humanity.

In this new issue of the COP Snapshot, we feature the HLPF Side Event on “Ending Poverty by 2030: Transformations Needed to Achieve SDG 1” – organized jointly by BRAC Ultra-Poor Graduation Initiative, the Permanent Mission of Nigeria, and UNDP – which provided a forum to exchange lessons learned from poverty eradication efforts worldwide and outlined bold measures required to stop regress and accelerate progress towards SDG 1.

Do not miss our two special sections featuring top recommended books to read and podcasts to listen to during the summertime. Hope you enjoy them!

The event featured a high-level keynote, an opening panel, and two additional thematic panels on (1) innovations in implementation and financing for SDG Localization and (2) SDG monitoring and reporting for long-term development planning. Watch the recording here.
