Kenya Post Stockholm+50 National Consultations on Circular Economy

Between the 13th and 14th of October 2022, The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MEF), together with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), hosted a debriefing session on the Stockholm+50 international meeting, which was held in Stockholm, Sweden, from 2nd to 3rd June 2022. The forum aimed to reflect on the key outcomes and to consult for an implementation roadmap of the 10-point agenda adopted during the international meeting in a national sustainable development context. Specifically, the planned session focused on waste and pollution control with a special focus on circulatory and circular economy in waste management.

The session was attended by H.E. the Swedish Ambassador to Kenya, Caroline Vicini; the Director of Environment, Education & Awareness for MEF, Dr. Ayub Macharia; and the Senior Economic Advisor from UNDP Mr. Bheki Bhembe, as well as participants from the government, private sector, development partners, civil society, academia, women, and youth.
