New Economics for Sustainable Development of the Ocean Economy

In consideration of the central role of the ocean in lives and livelihood for SIDS, this resource aims at framing the concept of the sustainable ocean economy and what it can bring to equitable economic transformation while proposing policy options to unleash the full potential of the sustainable ocean economy in its economic, social and environmental dimensions. This includes sustainable harvesting of marine resources and their transformation and trade, such as seafood, pharmaceutical products, freshwater generation, renewable energy, sustainable commerce, transport, coastal development, tourism, recreation, carbon sequestration, coastal protection, and biodiversity services.
