About the event:

The virtual session is aimed at bringing together electoral management bodies, civil society organizations and other stakeholders around a discussion on the status of EMB efforts to enhance women’s political participation, the good practices identified from across different regions, and areas where collaboration between EMBs and civil society can accelerate progress towards achieving the various commitments. The specific objectives of the session are to:

  1. Raise awareness on the role of EMBs in facilitating the participation of women in all phases of the electoral cycle, as voters, candidates, party agents, observers, and administrators
  2. Showcase the efforts of EMBs in increasing and enhancing the participation of women in elections
  3. Discuss strategies and interventions to address the continued obstacles to women’s effective participation and the role of various electoral stakeholders including electoral assistance providers
