We are pleased to invite you to participate in an electronic discussion (e-discussion) on the 2015 ECOSOC theme held from 17 February to 17 March 2015.

The purpose of the e-discussion is to engage policy-makers, experts, practitioners and stakeholder groups from various regions in a global dialogue on specific aspects of the 2015 ECOSOC theme of “Managing the transition from the Millennium Development Goals to the sustainable development goals: What it will take”.

The e-discussion consists of four concurrently running thematic windows, each led by an expert moderator. The thematic windows address: i) policy choices and mindset change for an integrated agenda;  ii) adaptation by institutions and structures; iii) partnerships for the implementation of the SDGs and the post-2015 agenda; and iv) monitoring and review.

The 2015 e-discussion is an opportunity to provide the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) with concrete ideas and proposals for defining the steps required for the successful transition from the MDGs to the SDGs. It provides a platform for the wider development community to formulate policy messages and recommendations for ECOSOC. Contributions made by e-discussion participants will be included in a summary of the e-discussion posted on the ECOSOC website and will also be channeled through the report of the Secretary-General on the ECOSOC theme in support of the Council’s deliberations on the theme during its high-level segment in July.

The e-discussion is co-ordinated and organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).

We hope you will join us for the e-discussion. Participants may join at http://www.unteamworks.org/amr2015.

We encourage you to forward this invitation to colleagues and professional networks. Members of the UNDG’s MDG-Net, and UNDP’s knowledge networks will also receive updates on the progress of the discussion.
