UNDP has stepped up its support to countries to use health taxes to finance sustainable development, including their COVID-19 response and recovery. Recent work has included the development of a health tax model that calculates lives and costs saved, as well as expected revenue from tax increases on tobacco, alcohol and sugar-sweetened drinks.
