As part of UNAIDS’ ongoing strategy development processes, UNDP, UNFPA, UNODC, UNESCO, UNICEF, UN Women, WHO, the UNAIDS Secretariat, in cooperation with community organizations, and partners recently held a focus group discussion on adolescent and young key populations (AYKP). The objectives of the discussion were to:
- Understand the changing external political, financial and health and development context and its impact on scaling up HIV responses for AYKP;
- Examine the underlying root causes that prevent the achievement of goals specific to HIV and more broadly in health and development;
- Explore lessons learned, successful and unsuccessful strategies in HIV, health and development responses, and;
- Build a shared understanding of what the approach could be for the next 5 years with insights on what to stop, start, and continue.
A draft synthesis report from the discussion is available here and below.
