The theme of International Youth Day 2020, “Youth Engagement for Global Action” seeks to highlight the ways in which the engagement of young people at the local, national and global levels is enriching national and multilateral institutions and processes, as well as draw lessons on how their representation and engagement in formal institutional politics can be significantly enhanced.

14:00 GMT+3, 12 August: This International Youth Day, join the African Leadership Institute and the African Union Office of The Youth Envoy in launching the “Greater Inclusion of African Youth in Public Service and Governance” report which summarises insights and makes recommendations to achieving greater youth inclusion in governance across the continent derived from the intensive workshop held with young leaders and policymakers in May 2020. The event will be a recognition of the contributions and leadership of youth, particularly during these times of COVID-19.
