Following on the heels of International Women’s Day is the 65th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW65), which will take place mostly virtually from 15 to 26 March 2021.

This year’s CSW65 priority theme will look at ‘Women’s full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls’. In addition, CSW65 will evaluate progress in the implementation of the agreed conclusions from the 60th session (2016) on ‘Women’s empowerment and the link to sustainable development”.

This year’s CSW65 provides us with an opportunity to amplify, promote and strengthen women’s full participation in all spaces. We invite you to join us during the 10-day session, which will include a ministerial segment with round tables and other interactive dialogues, and a general discussion. More information on the meetings of the session is available here.  You can tune in live, as all events will be broadcast on UN WebTV.

As in past years, UNDP is also organizing a series of engaging side events on the priority theme. We will also be releasing new data for the COVID-19 Global Gender Response Tracker. You can find more details about UNDP's side events (see attached corporate flyer) and on our UNDP events page. We encourage you to attend the side events, share and use the materials in UNDP’s IWD & CSW65 Trello Board for your outreach efforts, including the CSW65 key messages and fast facts.
