Vanuatu is pioneering digital cash for disaster relief through a new mobile platform that uses blockchain technology and tap-and-pay cards to provide assistance to community members and businesses in about three minutes, significantly reducing distribution costs by 75%. Unblocked Cash will ensure that those without electronic banking systems in remote or badly damaged areas can receive the funds they need post-disaster all the while preserving dignity through direct access.
