Today 12 April, the UNDP in Mauritius and the Ministry of Environment organised a workshop at the Université des Mascareignes, in line with the Stockholm +50 initiative.

Mr. Prakash Deenapanray, Adjunct Professor, gave a presentation on the Sustainability and Climate Change Programme at the University and Mr. Madookur Desha, National Consultant for UNDP, explained the Stockholm +50 concept and themes. This was followed by a breakout session where around 70 students from the faculties of Engineering, Information Technology and Management were invited to discuss the three leadership questions and put forward nature based solutions. They talked about actions to achieve a healthy planet and prosperity for all, green and sustainable recovery from COVID-19 and the environmental dimension of the SDGs.

This event is part of a series of multi-stakeholder consultations organised across Mauritius to address climate change. Data and insights from the students will be included in a report which will be submitted to the Stockholm +50 Global Event.
