Background:

The BAPA+40 Outcome Document acknowledged the importance of the sharing of knowledge, experiences and good practices, particularly homegrown development approaches, on South-South and triangular cooperation in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It has called upon the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) to support Member States in the mapping and sharing of good practices and experiences from the South to address poverty eradication and sustainable development.

Over the past several years, UNOSSC along with the Member States, UN agencies, and other development partners have jointly been developing the “Good Practices in South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development” publication which features initiatives that contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while illustrating the central tenets of effective South-South and triangular cooperation. This publication series has been welcomed by Member States as an exercise that could be used to support developing countries to share knowledge and connect with one another to address similar development challenges.  Based on this feedback and in response to the BAPA+40 Outcome Document, we are pleased to inform you that the UNOSSC in collaboration with its partners will develop the fourth volume of the publication.

2022 Call for Submissions

This upcoming volume will once again feature Southern good practices that are relevant to the implementation of the SDGs.  The objective is to demonstrate how South-South cooperation and triangular cooperation can support countries to overcome shared challenges and accelerate progress towards sustainable development. It aims to benefit developing countries seeking to scale up South-South and triangular cooperation initiatives. The publication will be launched at the commemoration of UN Day on South-South Cooperation in September 2022.

We would like to invite you to join this exercise and submit up to five (5) good practices and initiatives in South-South and triangular that have supported/contributed toward the implementation of the SDGs to be considered for the fourth volume and to be featured on South-South Galaxy. Please review the submission guidance form to assist you in identifying good practices your organization supports as they relate to South-South cooperation and embody the spirit of solidarity and collective efforts.

How to submit:

Kindly submit the good practices you would like to be considered for inclusion in the fourth volume by filling out the Good Practices template. Please send your submission to Shams Banihani at [email protected]  with a copy to Raphael Avelar [email protected]  and Naveeda Nazir at [email protected] by 23 May 2022.

We also encourage you to upload your individual good practices to South-South Galaxy via this link.
