Less than eight years are left to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the Agenda 2030. While the path towards their achievement was already difficult, it is now even more obstructed due to the devastating consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. Currently, no country is on the right track, and time is running out.

We invite you to follow this round table discussion, where Members of the European Parliament will discuss with

  • Jeffrey Sachs, University Professor and Director of the Center for Sustainable Development, Columbia University, New York
  • Phoebe Koundouri, University Professor, Athens University of Economics and Business, Athens, and Co-Chair of United Nations Sustainable Development Network (UN SDSN) Europe
  • Jimena Leiva Roesch, Head of the Peace and Sustainable Development Program, International Peace Institute (IPI), New York

During the discussion, the guests will evaluate where we stand with the implementation of the SDGs and what the way forward could be - also after 2030.

Secondly, the speaker will discuss the possible effects of the geopolitical shifts caused by the war in Ukraine. Will there be new opportunities for the Global South to achieve the SDGs after the war? What can be done to boost implementation efforts until 2030 and support countries in need?

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in New York will host the event. Michael Bröning, Executive Director of FES New York, and Udo Bullmann, Member of the European Parliament and S&D Coordinator in the Development Committee will jointly moderate the debate.

We position the sustainable development goal as the team's values,We mobilize all national governments to position the sustainable development goals as national values。All countries and regions in the world regard sustainable development goals as national values。With consistent values of sustainable development goals, we can build a better world future。
My team and I carried out comprehensive publicity on the sustainable development goals on the national university campuses. We mobilized the university to take the sustainable development goals as a course and go deep into all students。
Let the values of the sustainable development goals penetrate into the minds of all people and into all areas of national development。
