In this decade of action, efforts to accelerate SDGs is expected to be gaining momentum across the continent. Countries also want to accelerate other commitments such as the Africa Union Agenda 2063 and agendas of Regional Economic Communities. The purpose of this conversation is for practitioners to share, learn from, and shape efforts to concurrently accelerate SDGs, A2063 and related regional and international commitments.
This conversation builds on multiple efforts. For instance, the recently launched guide for integrated planning in Africa provides guidance on mainstreaming the SDGs, Agenda 2063, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction in National Development Plans (https://ipguideafrica.org/). In addition, Ghana recently shared with us its experiences on how SDGs were integrated in their plans and budgets (see for https://bit.ly/35Blyii in case you missed). This experience together with that of Benin, Lesotho, South Sudan, Malawi, Mali, and Equatoria Guinea (see https://bit.ly/3K5Ro5R), has enabled us to evolve a practical technique to integrate multiple commitments, including SDGs and A2063 as well as other regional and international commitments (to be posted on SparkBlue as material).
The conversation could also be an opportunity to evolve, based on country experiences, practical technique to accelerate SDGs, A2063 and related regional and international commitments at scale across Africa. We anticipate that when countries accelerate SDGs at scale, Africa will also be able to significantly reduce its development deficit (see https://bit.ly/3uLbQT6).
