Transforming Systems in the Decade of Action

This dialogue kicks off a series of six co-inquiry sessions into human development in the Anthropocene, building from the Human Development Report 2020. It will introduce elements of Theory U - listening, observing, sensing, presencing, crystalizing, prototyping and co-evolving – to be explored through case studies and hands-on learning. Otto Scharmer and invited thought leaders will guide each dialogue on Transformation, including on the topics of Choice, New Frontiers, Relationship, Leadership and Possibility. Discussions will take place on this platform (Sparkblue) between dialogues (see the active discussion below).

What will you gain from participating in this dialogue?

  • capabilities to lead systems inquiry

  • exposure to awareness-based learning practices and access to case studies

  • belonging to an advanced practitioner network across the UN system

Dear All, Such a dialogue coming in the course of building back better beyond COVID-19 pandemic seemed a pivotal leraning for UNDP. Thanks for initiating it. While I was excited to get connected I came on board with retard unfortunatly. But I would like to request if it is possible to share with us the recording which will be very useful for us to be prepared for the next step of the journey. Thanks in advance.
REgards, .

Hello! I have the most basic question. I am outside UNDP and could not figure out how to find the Zoom link! I'd like to be ready for next time. Can someone help with navigating registration, reminders notices, etc, to non-UNDP folks? Thank you!

Very sorry to have missed the live event - joining now thanks to the recording and looking forward to the next appointments. After seeing the first dialogue I feel energized and empowered but also a great sense of responsibility towards myself, my community, the organization and the people we serve.

The question about how can we sense the bubble from within? And how the current uncertainty (aka “crisis”) is a blessing as it moves us out of our automatic routine, so we can see, sense the system and redefine ourselves while facing it, and change the system itself as a consequence… wow! It is a blessing to be again creating these spaces together in UNDP

We need to see ourselves as part of this system. Because this is the reality. We are the system and I am part of it. So, in order for the system to change, I as individual will do my homework. The tools are meditation, presence (here and now), powerful questions to connect with the source, connect with the body (stuck exercises from SPT for example). Then there is the WE, the system. And the tools are deep listening, sense the system (4D mapping for example), 4.0 conversations, etc. We need to give much more importance to deep listening.
We would need to let go the former way of thinking where "I see the system and I change the system", to "I am part of the system and I will have to change together with the system". Open mind is the first step, and open will is also at UNDP. The real change, from my point of view, is OPEN HEART. That is the enormous hidden power we have in ourselves. And when we embrace this power coming from the source, we dont do anything anymore. We are a vehicle for the life to express itself through us.

So well said Javier, and especially to keep in mind (or heart) when we are leading/contributing in social interventions, that we are all part of the system and co-create it, so we need to aim consciousness expansion measured through (behavioral) changes.
