Stockholm +50 side event: Launch of Our Action Plan for a Sustainable Planet in the Digital Age

David Jensen

Launch Event: Join us on Thursday 2 June from 11:30 to 12:45 CEST for the launch of the CODES Action Plan for a Sustainable Planet in the Digital Age. The Action Plan will be launched at a formal side event of the Stockholm +50 conference in Room 2 and online.

Organizers: German Federal Environment Agency, UNEP, UNDP, International Science Council, Future Earth, Sustainability in the Digital Age, Kenyan Ministry of Environment and Forestry

About: 50 Years after the Stockholm Conference, environmental change remains a major global issue, but another transformation has been ongoing alongside; the digital revolution. The transformational capabilities of digitalisation are a crucial tool to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 and this initiative aims to ensure these are actively directed and harnessed towards a more sustainable future.

The Coalition for Digital Environmental Sustainability (CODES), is an international multi-stakeholder alliance created in March 2021 in response to the UN Secretary General’s Roadmap for Digital Cooperation to steer the use of digital technologies toward accelerating environmentally and socially sustainable development. Over the last year, CODES has grown into a community of over a 1000 individuals and organisations that have worked to co-create an Action Plan for a Sustainable Planet in the Digital Age with the aim to offer a vision and set of priorities and proposed initiatives.

This event will serve as the official launch of the CODES Action Plan and a call to action for stakeholders to take ownership of the 9 Impact Initiatives listed in the plan as we move towards an implementation phase.

Hi Richard - yes enrollment is only for the virtual event. We will send a registration email for the in-person event.....

Yes, it has taken a while to get to this point - but we've done it with no financial resources and through the "blood, sweat and tears" of everyone who has contributed. In my mind, that is exactly what makes CODES so special. We are doing this because we deeply believe in the mission and our all putting our personal time into the process to make it happen.....

Well done David and CODES community. You are absolutely right its passion and vision that provide the motivation to keep slogging away to bring about change - and you are succeeding.

Congrats! Would love to contribute to task forces with resources and networks so the community can invest in “blood, sweat and laughters” together

Hi David,
I have read the email you sent to request our support in publicizing the event in the mass media. I have a contact in Mexico who has access to traditional and digital mass media, with people with profiles with the influence that the dissemination of this event requires and as indicated. She has asked me to provide you with her contact information so that you can coordinate with each other. Who can I turn to for this connection?
